Esta es la denominación para el barrio denominado anteriormente como Palermo Viejo. Se encuentra localizado entre las avenidas Córdoba y Santa Fe, desde Dorrego hasta Scalabrini Ortiz; era una zona de grandes galpones y bodegas, de aquí su nombre, pero con el tiempo la zona fue loteada y allí se instalaron familias de clase media. Fue un barrio de inquilinatos, construidos a principios del siglo XX con la estructura de la llamada “casa chorizo” (habitaciones contiguas que daban a una galería abierta) y casas bajas de una o dos plantas de estilo italiano y español que hoy siguen existiendo. El barrio se caracteriza por sus calles adoquinadas y enormes árboles añejos que le dan un toque de melancolía y una apariencia tranquila a las inmediaciones.

Con el tiempo el barrio fue adquiriendo diversas características con lo cual quedó dividido en dos barrios diferentes: Palermo Soho y Palermo Hollywood.

El primero se encuentra al Sur de Avenida Juan B. Justo y en las inmediaciones de la Plaza Serrano (Oficialmente Plazoleta Cortázar) y Plaza Armenia. Se llama así por su estilo artístico y bohemio, similar al del Soho original en New York. Sus viejos edificios han sido reciclados y convertidos en modernas instalaciones que mantienen su estilo original, especialmente en las fachadas. Las viejas casas se han convertido en restaurantes, bares, boutiques, galerías de arte, bed and breakfasts y acogedores hostales juveniles. Es considerado el centro del diseño de la Ciudad por la gran cantidad de tiendas de indumentarias con modernos diseños que funcionan en la zona. Todos los sábados y domingos funciona una feria de ropa y accesorios en la Plaza Serrano. Más de 50 restaurantes con mucha onda están ubicados en Palermo Soho que ofrecen una gastronomía de excelente calidad y amplio rango de opciones.
